When I say, I won’t tell anyone, my best friend doesn’t count…

…you know who I mean!  That person you call as soon as big news comes up!  You promise not to say anything to anyone, but lets be honest, you know you’re going straight to your girlfriend and spilling all the beans.

For those of you who don’t know, Meg is getting married this Saturday, so you will be hearing and seeing a little more (or a LOT more, actually) of me on our blog this and next week, mostly while Meg prepares for her BIG DAY and is on her honeymoon.  I’m so unbelievably excited for her and her fiance, Jeff, I don’t even think I could convey my feelings or do them justice just through typing, but I’m gonna try.

Meg’s been my best friend for like 13 years now (my goodness, we’re getting old), and being that this is her wedding week, I’m kicking this week off with a post dedicated to GIRLFRIENDS.  We all have those women in our lives who we just couldn’t live without.  You know the ones – you’re two of kind, peas in a pod, the ones who you can turn to and say….

…remember the time, I exclaimed about the cuteness of a couple in the Trader Joe’s parking lot and you turned to look, and slammed right into the car in front of us?  I thought you were going to kill me, but you didn’t…

…or the time, I decided it would be normal to run up and down the stairs during commercials as a “great” workout for the day, I thought you be like, you’re nuts, but you looked at me and were like, “great idea!”….

…or the time I swore having a picnic in the freezing, cold, dead of winter would be fun, and you said it wouldn’t, and it wasn’t, I thought you would say, “told you so,” but you didn’t…

…and the time I wanted to be Big Bird for Halloween, I thought you would think I was crazy, but you didn’t (well, maybe you did a lil), but you dressed up in yellow feathers with me, and we were the cutest lil “chicks” anyone has ever seen…

…or the time the hair dresser dyed my hair blond, (and I am clearly no blond), I thought you would laugh at me, but you didn’t.  You calmed me down and we fixed it…

…and every single time I’ve dated the “wrong” guy and made you listen to all my crazy stories, and you told me they were the wrong one from the beginning, I thought you would get sick of giving me the same old advice, over and over again, but you never stopped listening…

… you’ve put up with me, listened to me, loved me, and protected me.  And I’m so proud of you for finding the man you makes you the happiest girl in the world.

So, who are you’re girlfriends you couldn’t live without?!  What are you’re crazy stories?!  Don’t forget to thank them for just being the best girlfriends any girl could ask for.  Because I think sometimes we forget to let them know.  So, pay it forward today, give them a hug, go shopping, get ice cream, take a walk or grab a drink together, and send them some love from us Mamie Girls too!
