Our Busy Weekend

Here’s our weekend in a nutshell…   We represented our ShopMamie booth at the Flower Market from Thursday to Saturday and then yesterday, on Mother’s Day, ShopMamie headed to the Willowdale Steeplechase in Kennett Square for a horse race and shopping event!  I think we we did more shopping than selling as Amy bought cute rolling luggage and I got a pair of shoes, a cowgirl hat, and seersucker shorts for Jeff.

Phewww…we have been so incredibly busy this past week with events galore and have totally slacked on updating the internet.  We have gotten a lot of questions on how the juice cleanse went and we are so sorry to leave you hanging!  Last week, we blogged about Day 1 and honestly, day one was not too shabby.  Neither of us were hungry at all and when we did start feeling the hunger pangs, it was time for another juice.  Day 2 was another story!  The morning was a breeze and seeing that we both equally lost 3 pounds was a great encouragement, but the afternoon was horrible!  I think this was partially due to the fact that we were at the Flower Market festival all day smelling funnel cake and watching people with huge bags of kettle corn walk by us.  The night time also followed a similar pattern and I ended up drinking 2 cashew milks instead of one.  I did feel like a cheater, but it felt so good.  Both of us woke up on the morning of Day 3 starving and we decided that we gave the cleanse a good run, but it was time to eat!  In conclusion, we lost around 4 pounds, 2 of which I have already gained back.  It really does make your body feel good- you feel all around lightweight and much less bloated!  My energy level didn’t decrease at all during the cleanse, but I did want to go to bed a few hours earlier than my normal time.  Would we do it again?  Personally, I think I would, but in a different way.  I think I would eat along with it and have a healthy dinner at night and maybe even a small healthy breakfast to help myself sustain the cleanse and maybe even do it for longer.  Hope this review helps feed your curiosity of the juice cleanse!! xoxo The Mamie Girls

So, we’ve decided to embark on the 3-day juice cleanse.  Call us crazy, but we have talked about this increasing phenomenon and have finally decided to give a go to primarily reap the benefits that many people talk about.  The supposed benefits are overall health, ridding of toxins, weight loss, mental clarity, digestive health, and help to re-define your relationship with food.  We are “sort of” following the very popular Blue Print Cleanse and “sort of” means that we are following the recipes for the Blue Print Cleanse, but instead of spending over $65 a day for 3 days, we are making our own juice.  Amy and I discussed about how “foolish” it is to spend money on a cleanse, when you can just buy the produce and do it on your own.  Well, let me tell ya that doing it on your own is definitely less expensive but definitely not easy!  Check out our produce list/diet for the next 3 days:

Celery-60 ribs
Cucumber- 6
Green Apple- 42
Kale- 36  leaves
Lemons- 2 bags
Parsley- 12 handfuls
Romaine- 36 leaves
Spinach- 12 handfuls
Pineapple -2 whole
Mint- 1 bunch
Beets-12
Carrots-18 large
Ginger- 1-2
Cashews
Agave nectar
Cayenne pepper

And then there is the juicing that took us over 1.5 hours (of time we don’t have) this morning!  And that was just for today! LOL!

Day one has definitely not been nearly as bad as we had expected (well, as of yet).  I do think the 2-day prep prior to today helped out a bit!  We followed instructions and ate primarily fruits and veggies two days prior to starting the cleanse today.  So far, we have had the Green Juice (made with celery, cucumber, green apples, kale leaves, lemons, parsley, romaine, and spinach), P.A.M. juice (pineapple, green apple, mint), and Spicy Lemonade (water, lemons, cayenne pepper, and agave nectar).  The P.A.M. is definitely my favorite with the very tart Spicy Lemonade ranking last!  Spacing it out throughout the day and drinking green tea and water in between has helped a lot.  Night time cravings are definitely the worst, so we’re hoping we can make it through tonight!  Next up is the C.A.R. juice (green apple, beets, carrots, ginger, lemons) and the Cashew Milk (cashews, water, agave nectar, cinnamon, and vanilla).  Can’t wait for the cashew milk…we’ve been looking forward to it all day!

Obviously this has nothing to with clothing, fashion, or ShopMamie, but after doing a lot of online research about it, we thought it would be of interest to a lot of you ladies out there!  Wish us luck and we’ll keep you updated!
