With all this wedding hupla going on, we decided to feature a wedding blogger for our Mamie Blogger of the Month.  We were lucky enough to interview Chantale, owner of La Belle Bride~ ‘the stylish guide for the swanky bride‘.  Chantale also writes and contributes to the big name wedding blog, Style Me Pretty.  La Belle Bride has cute little DIY ideas, like these granola wedding favors which are right up my ally because I am cereal obsessed.  Need ideas?  Check out the Inspiration Gallery!  It’s a great little sanctuary when you don’t know where to turn from making decision after decision.  Our FAVORITE thing of all are the amazing weddings that she features on a daily basis!  Take a closer look below…

The Face Behind La Belle Bride

Q: What was your inspiration for starting La Belle Bride?  Where do you continue to pull inspiration from?

A: I’m inspired by unique, personalized weddings.  I think it’s awesome when brides allow their personalities to shine through during their wedding day.  Whether it be with vintage themed or DIY weddings – I love details!

Q: If you could pick out 3 colors for a color palette for a wedding, what would you choose?

A: Silver, Burgandy and Navy

Q: How do you go about receiving and posting such beautiful weddings?  Do you have an all time favorite wedding that you have featured on your site?

A: I receive a lot of submissions from photographers and wedding vendors all over the world.  I’m honored with each submission that comes my way.  I have a lot of favorite weddings however recently I featured a vintage, DIY wedding from Manitoba that really sums up with La Belle Bride is all about.

Q: Do you have any great cost saving wedding tips?   If you could choose 3 things to D.I.Y, what would you choose?

A: I subscribe to the idea that you should prioritize your wedding needs.  Make a list of the top 3 things that are most important to you on your wedding day (eg. Food, Photography, Music…) and budget accordingly.  I think there are a ton of great DIY ideas that can help you cut costs.  For my own wedding, I chose to do my own wedding invitations, my own wedding music and my own centerpieces.

Our Mamie Favorite Bloggers for the month of June are the lovely Chicago Fit Girls! I know that many of us ladies are in GET FIT mode since the summer has dawned upon us, so we thought it would be perfect to feature these lovely ladies.  They have set out to stay fit and teach others how to do just that through their blog. Amy and Maggie (A & M- just like Amy and I :) ) met on the very first day of college cross country practice, literally in the very back of the pack. It was their first run with the team, and they were two freshman that apparently weren’t prepared for the college cross country scene.  They instantly bonded over complaints and have been best friends ever since.  They are fairly new to the blogging world and are hoping that they gain a greater following to help women achieve their fitness goals!  We interviewed Amy and Maggie to gain some insight on what they do to stay fit.

Q: How did you get the idea to start the blog?  What was your inspiration?

A: The idea arose just from looking at other fitness material on the web. Sometimes we would see a tip or workout that we just completely disagreed with, and that’s when we started thinking this could be very confusing for people (especially if you don’t have a degree in this stuff)! We wanted to make our blog to be very usable for women. We go to classes and review them, participate in events and let you know what we think, and also include our own advice, tips, and workouts. We just felt like we had fresh ideas that we were ready to share.

Q: What message would you like to get out to your readers? What is your goal for your blog?  How do you want it to grow?

A: The message we want to get out to our readers is that everyone can find a way to be healthy and stay active. Also, that there are all types of beautiful bodies out there, so you need to learn to love yours. We want to help women find confidence and happiness in regard to their body. The goal of the Chicago Fit Girls blog is really just to help people. We both feel that if we help  just a few people live healthier lifestyles, it would be worth every minute we’ve spent on it. Our dream would be to try classes and trainers all over.  Chicago is the starting point. For right now, we’d just love to have more people hearing what we have to say.

Q: What are you tips for nutrition? exercise?  What do you personally do for exercise daily? Do you pull ideas from a particular resource?

A: Nutrition tip: Eat a healthy breakfast EVERY single day, it will get your day started on the right foot! And, NO coffee doesn’t cut it ladies! Your body needs lasting energy to get you through the day. Some of our favorite breakfasts include: an egg white omelet with a ton of veggies, or when we’re in a rush we try to keep a high fiber, whole grain cereal handy and use non-fat/skim milk in it. Right now we’re obsessed with Go Lean! Crunch.

Exercise: Find something that you love to do! If you can’t stand going on the treadmill, don’t punish yourself. Instead try a new class that incorporates cardio into it! If you find something that you actually enjoy, you’re way more likely to stick to it! Also, we find that training for events can make training more fun and goal oriented. When you cross that finish line, you really have the feeling that everything was worth it.

We both love to exercise, so we’d try anything. Staples for both of us include: running and resistance training,  but we also incorporate body-weight training and yoga! When we’re somewhere that allows for it, we absolutely love to hike. Our exercise regimen also depends on what we’re training for, right now it’s lots of running for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. Just like everyone else, we thoroughly enjoy our weekly day (or 2) off! :)

Our Mamie Blogger of the Month is one of our favorite bloggers, Jen Lula, from JenLovesKev.  There is something so uber natural and feel-good about this blog!  It seems to surround Jen’s life, love, and creative outlets.  She is an inspiration for us Mamie Girls and continues to be with her adorable baby bump!  It was easy to decide who we wanted to feature as our next Mamie Blogger of the Month and we really enjoyed the chance to interview her!  Jen also wore our Shopmamie.com Fashionably Late Little Black Dress as a feature on JenLovesKev and worked it with the baby bump!

Q: We love the name of your blog!  Was your husband, Kev, the inspiration for your blog?  Can you tell us the story of how you met, fell in love, and got married?  We have started a new section of StyleMeMamie.com called “Mamie Bridal Buzz,” do you have any tips for our brides out there (including me)?

A: Kev was def. the inspiration for the name of my blog. My blog is as much about our life together as it is about fashion, so it just seemed fitting. It was actually a valentines day gift from him. He bought the domain name and designed and built my blog for me as a gift. I had been talking about it forever and had just had a small livejournal site for a long time before that, so he is the one that made it as beautiful as it is today for me.

We met my sophomore year in college in Art History Class. We were friends first for a while but we always say we fell in love in Book Making Class. We were both art school nerds. We got married June 16, 2006. So almost 4 years ago. Time sure goes by fast! We got engaged 3 weeks prior and got married on a cruise with our families while we were docked in Key West. 2 weeks later we moved to Hawaii. It was a crazy whirl wind of a month. Our wedding was simple and spontaneous. We knew we wanted to get married, we had been dating for 2 years, so when the chance to move to Hawaii got presented we just moved everything into high gear. To me it wasn’t about a big ceremony and all the planning. All I wanted was to be marrying the guy of my dreams. Sure, it was hard not to have best friends there, but I don’t regret any of it. We got married at 10am in the Viking Lounge (haha great name huh?) by a justice of the peace that came on board the ship. I walked down the aisle to a beach boys song that was blasting from a boom box. To us it fit our adventurous spirit and was perfect. So I guess that would be my biggest advice: Make sure you don’t get caught up in all the planning, remember that this day is about you and your fiance and that is really all that matters. Make it special for you guys and don’t try to please everyone else because you won’t be able too. As long as it is right for you two then that’s what counts.

Q:  What is the focus of your blog? Has the focus changed since you started Jenloveskev?  How has your blog evolved/grown?

A: My blog first started out as a way to let all our family and friends know what we were up to when we moved to Hawaii, but when we moved back to MA, it slowly changed into what it is now. The focus for me is to keep my creative side filled. There is such a great community out there and I am daily inspired by what I see and read. It makes me want to contribute and be creative myself. I just can’t keep it all towards fashion, that’s why I like to include my artwork, interior design for our house, cooking, and fashion. Its like a jumble of things that I am passionate about in my life. Its still a blog that my family and friends read that live far away so it def. is a lifestyle blog. There are stories about Kev and me and the things that are going on in our life mixed in there as well.

Q:  How would you describe your personal style?  Now that you are pregnant, are you styling or getting dressed differently to accommodate your baby bump?

A: Hmm? My personal style is always changing. I really go back and forth between loving new and trendy styles and vintage pieces. I think I just end up mixing it all together to create my own personal look and I think that works for me. I love mixing a fun trendy skirt with a vintage blouse or a modern dress with some funky vintage jewelry.

Its been a little bit of a challenge to get use to dressing my baby bump, but its a fun challenge. It’s really funny how things I wouldn’t like before I was pregnant are now the styles and clothes that work the best and I feel the best in now that I am pregnant. I am really trying to buy as little maternity specific clothes as I can. There are a lot of regular dress styles and tops that work great for pregnant ladies. I have had to cave a little and get some maternity jeans and shorts but that’s about it. Its fun trying to see what will work in regular stores.
