So, we’ve decided to embark on the 3-day juice cleanse.  Call us crazy, but we have talked about this increasing phenomenon and have finally decided to give a go to primarily reap the benefits that many people talk about.  The supposed benefits are overall health, ridding of toxins, weight loss, mental clarity, digestive health, and help to re-define your relationship with food.  We are “sort of” following the very popular Blue Print Cleanse and “sort of” means that we are following the recipes for the Blue Print Cleanse, but instead of spending over $65 a day for 3 days, we are making our own juice.  Amy and I discussed about how “foolish” it is to spend money on a cleanse, when you can just buy the produce and do it on your own.  Well, let me tell ya that doing it on your own is definitely less expensive but definitely not easy!  Check out our produce list/diet for the next 3 days:

Celery-60 ribs
Cucumber- 6
Green Apple- 42
Kale- 36  leaves
Lemons- 2 bags
Parsley- 12 handfuls
Romaine- 36 leaves
Spinach- 12 handfuls
Pineapple -2 whole
Mint- 1 bunch
Beets-12
Carrots-18 large
Ginger- 1-2
Cashews
Agave nectar
Cayenne pepper

And then there is the juicing that took us over 1.5 hours (of time we don’t have) this morning!  And that was just for today! LOL!

Day one has definitely not been nearly as bad as we had expected (well, as of yet).  I do think the 2-day prep prior to today helped out a bit!  We followed instructions and ate primarily fruits and veggies two days prior to starting the cleanse today.  So far, we have had the Green Juice (made with celery, cucumber, green apples, kale leaves, lemons, parsley, romaine, and spinach), P.A.M. juice (pineapple, green apple, mint), and Spicy Lemonade (water, lemons, cayenne pepper, and agave nectar).  The P.A.M. is definitely my favorite with the very tart Spicy Lemonade ranking last!  Spacing it out throughout the day and drinking green tea and water in between has helped a lot.  Night time cravings are definitely the worst, so we’re hoping we can make it through tonight!  Next up is the C.A.R. juice (green apple, beets, carrots, ginger, lemons) and the Cashew Milk (cashews, water, agave nectar, cinnamon, and vanilla).  Can’t wait for the cashew milk…we’ve been looking forward to it all day!

Obviously this has nothing to with clothing, fashion, or ShopMamie, but after doing a lot of online research about it, we thought it would be of interest to a lot of you ladies out there!  Wish us luck and we’ll keep you updated!

We ventured out to Winterthur’s Point to Point yesterday which is our area’s steeplechase.  I do have to admit though, I definitely did not see a horse this year- I’m sorry P2P!  I have yet to check in with Amy to see if she spotted one- I’m hoping it’s a yes!  The sun came out just enough to make it a pretty day!  Check out pics from our preppy tailgate (we even had cute mason jars that our friend Hil made for us- how cute!)!!

All Dressed in Mamie!

Me and the handsome hubs!

Shore Break

We took a quick road trip to the NJ shore yesterday to set up a mini ShopMamie shop in an Avalon, NJ store for the summer season. We are so excited to have paired up with one of our favorite stores filled with tons of little treasures. :) . Check out our cool wooden t-stand that Amy’s Dad made for us!! He is such a craftsman! And of course, being by the water makes us naturally crave seafood, so we ventured to the Lobster House and divulged in what else??? We also took the opportunity to capture us looking like complete nerds in lobster bibs! For more info on our Avalon setup, email us at info@shopmamie.com!
